The Executive is responsible for the smooth operation of all aspects of the society, from training members to organizing first aid sessions open to the Dalhousie community. The Executive is elected by all DMCRT members at the Annual General Meeting in April.
Born in Ontario and raised on Prince Edward Island, Zach has always had an interest in first aid, the human body, and keeping people safe. He started off as a swimming instructor and then became a lifeguard at his local pool and on PEI’s beaches. He started his BSc in Kinesiology in 2015 and graduated in 2019 and he is back at Dal this year pursuing a certificate. Zach joined the DMCRT as a VMR in 2017 and served as VPO in 2018-2019. Zach currently works at Dalhousie in the academic year as a Senior Residence Assistant and enjoys helping students in a number of ways in this role. Over the past four summers, Zach has served in the Canadian Coast Guard as a first responder on inshore rescue boats in Nova Scotia and PEI. He is currently a rescue boat coxswain in Charlottetown. Zach is excited to be on the executive again this year and loves his role as President!
Vice President of ADMINISTRATION SCHEDULING
Anya grew up in Halifax and spent her first two years at Acadia University before coming to Dalhousie. She is currently in her fourth year of her Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering. She joined DMCRT in 2018 as a volunteer medical responder after having been on Acadia's Medical Campus Response Team. She has always been interested in finding ways to combine engineering and healthcare, particularly through biomedical applications. This year, she's looking forward to being able to help the team's scheduling run smoothly so that DMCRT can keep contributing to the Dalhousie community!

Heather was born and raised in Halifax, and is currently in her third year of her Bachelor of Medical Science. She joined the DMCRT in 2017 as a Volunteer Medical Responder, inspired by her love of medicine and first aid. This year, she has joined the exec, and was excited to help out in the new position of Vice President of Administration, Human Resources. She is looking forward to working to help the DMCRT grow, and learn this year!
Vice President of OPERATIONS
Mano was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt and moved Canada at 10 years of age. He is currently in his 4th year of the Medical Sciences program at Dalhousie. Mano was a volunteer medical responder during his first year on the team, a duty supervisor during his second; and now, he is very excited to be the Vice President of Operations. Mano is aiming to create a positive environment among the team and to encourage a great level of passion towards learning first aid techniques to better represent the DMCRT and Dalhousie university
Vice President of External Communications
Born in Ontario and raised on the east coast, Jack has been a part of DMCRT since 2016 as a VMR and is now happy to play a role on the executive team of the society. Finishing his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology, Jack plans on pursuing a Masters in Physiotherapy. Jack splits his time with DMCRT and his position as a student athletic trainer and strength and conditioning coach with interests in exercise physiology. He’s constantly focused on how we can cultivate a stronger community at Dalhousie through promotion of sports, exercise, health, and wellbeing.
Vice President of Finance
Originally from Calgary AB, Griffin moved to Halifax in 2016 to pursue a degree in Neuroscience after a 4-year junior hockey career. He joined the team in 2017 as a Mental Health Volunteer where he won the Mental Health Volunteer Leadership Award. This is Griffin’s third year on the team and his second year on the executive team after spending last year as the Director of Mental Health. He is thrilled to have the VMRs and MHVs work as a cohesive unit as they continue to help provide students with a wide range of physical and mental health related services. With one year left in his undergraduate degree, Griffin is excited to see how the team will continue to grow to help support the needs of students in the Dalhousie community!

Catherine is in her fourth year at Dalhousie, she studies biochemistry and molecular biology. She is from England and came to Canada to study at Dalhousie. She has loved participating in more open and honest conversations around mental health. It has been a big difference from the UK!

Emma is originally from the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia, and came to Halifax to attend Dalhousie. She is currently in her fourth year of study, perusing a degree in Neuroscience. Emma joined the team in 2017 as a VMR, then continued on to become a Duty Supervisor for the following 2018/2019 year. Emma is now taking on an executive role as our Secretary this year and is loving being able to help and watch our team grow and become stronger!
Our Duty Supervisors
Duty supervisors are responsible for leading and managing a small team of Volunteer Medical Responders at DMCRT-attended event. They are responsible for coordinating equipment before the duty, maintaining communication with event organizers as well as acting as 'primary' responder in casualty situations.
