Training Week 2016
From August 29th to September 2nd, thirty five Dalhousie Students attended first aid and mental health training to become the newest members of DMCRT. On September 2nd, the returning VMRs participated in a retraining session led by our VP of Operations, Chloe Blackman. Many thanks to Vince, Laurel and Jeremy from St John Ambulance as well as all the other instructors who made this week such a success! Our training week concluded with Orientation on September 3rd, with presentations from Dalhousie Security, St John Ambulance, Dalhousie Counselling Services and Dalhousie Health Services.
DMCRT is thrilled to welcome our new VMRs and MHVs to the team and is so excited to start the new year!
DMCRT on Campus
Trying to find DMCRT? Peruse our office on the third floor of the Student Union Building in the Society Hub or check all around campus as we might be attending an event on any of one the Halifax campuses! Our members have diverse educational backgrounds and are involved in many other societies and sports at Dalhousie, so you might run into a team member in class or at Wickwire. Take a peek to see where we've recently spotted DMCRT members!
Take a look to learn more about the gear DMCRT brings to events! Every team brings at least one trauma kit (the black backpack), one canister of oxygen (the blue bag), a spinal board, the AED as well as individual personal first aid kits. We carry equipment ranging from bandaids to leg splints to vomit suction apparatuses etc.
Mental Health on Campus
Our amazing Mental Health Volunteers operate a free and anonymous email service for all Dalhousie students! For more information about our Mental Health Division, click here! To meet our dedicated Mental Health Volunteers, click here!
On November 2nd, our MHVs held a Paint Night as part of Dal's Alcohol Harm Reduction Week. Stay tuned for upcoming events!
